Coffee Shops & Tea Rooms in Salisbury
This delightful cathedral city has numerous coffee shops to enjoy a taste of real coffee.
With so many historic buildings, it's possible to choose from Grade 1 buildings to totally modern
facilities.
Most of the places listed serve a range of pastries and cakes, together with teas & coffees. Some also
offer salads, sandwiches, light lunches and soft drinks.
Coffee shop chains in Salisbury include branches of Neros, Costa, Starbucks, Presto, also Mocha and
Monde.
Hotels offering tea & coffee close to the town centre include the Cathedral Hotel (newly
refurbished and increasingly popular), the Red Lion (with it's famous creeper covered courtyard) and the White Hart
(offering 4 star surroundings whilst you chat over a coffee).
Department Stores offering refreshments, snacks and light meals include Debenhams (on the Market
Square) or BHS & Marks & Spencer (in the Old George Mall).
Quirky independent coffee shops include quaint locations such as the small
upstairs lounge at Bird & Carter (just behind the Guildhall) and the Fisherton Mill (hidden away close to
the railway station).
Another favorite (sadly for National Trust members only) is Mompesson House, situated in the Cathedral
Close, where the tea room is situated in the garden of this elegant 18th century home.
For visitors to Salisbury Cathedral, enjoy the Refectory restaurant & tea room, with tea served in
the Cloisters. Close by are the Kings House cafe at Salisbury Museum and Bernières tearooms, both favored by
local residents.
Classic tea rooms include Carwardines and Polly Tea Rooms, on Bridge Street, offering a range of cakes
& desserts to tempt even the keenest dieter!
Our opinion - best homemade style cakes are to be found at Bird & Carter; Kings House café
(Salisbury Museum) & Polly tearooms
Please note, this article is the opinion of the author only, there are coffee houses & tea rooms which are
not mentioned above.
